I can't speak for Kaspersky, but I've been running Bitdefender Internet Security on Win 10.Īs for updates, I've had no trouble with them. Pausing Kaspersky changes the icon in the tray from green to red. If it is indeed true would it be possible to use the "pause protection" option that comes with Kaspersky to overcome this, or would I need to disable it further. I have read when using something other than Defender it can sometimes cause problems with Windows Updates unless that is a myth. i would like to instal it on at least one of the machines and i understand that it will automatically disable Defender in the process.

What I do know is that trying a full scan on the suspect machine takes hours and i give up after its supposedly processed over one million files ! I don't use the machines much either, so do not have a million files on any one machine. One of my Windows 10 machines has been acting oddly but nothing I can be 100% confident of. On my Windows 10 machines I rely on Defender and in my opinion the jury is out and hasn't come up with a verdict yet as to its competence. I have several Windows 7 machines and use Kaspersky Security Cloud Free and find it very comprehensive and low on system resources.
